NXT has officially capped off the year, and it was undeniably there biggest one yet. I’ve managed to sort out my best of categories with the appropriate winners, and I’d love to hear what you, the readers, think.
Takeover of the Year: Brooklyn
This was a simple pick, as it was stronger than the rest of the Takeovers. Every match was great, and the crowd was hot. They set the bar so high that weekend, that it was difficult for Summerslam to keep up.
Rookie of the Year: Dana Brooke
She came in as green as the grass, and within months became a credible performer. With proper booking, and dedication from Brooke herself, I honestly believe they have something special in the character.
Runner up: Apollo Crews
Tag Team of the Year: Enzo Amore & Big Cass
There’s no question that this title belongs to Enzo Amore and Colin Cassidy. The two competitors found their groove in 2015 and truly found a way to win over the hearts of all NXT fans. Also, they might have had the biggest pop of the year during their entrance in Brooklyn. Hopefully they’ll continue to grow in 2016 an d capture some tag team gold.
Runner up: Jason Jordan & Chad Gable
Female Wrestler of the Year: Sasha Banks
This one is up for debate, because nobody can forget how magical Bayley’s run has been from August to present time. With that being said, Sasha’s character was simply more dominant throughout the year, and I feel her character has been overall stronger than any other female competitor for NXT. She found a way to give her character purpose, and never failed with anything that she was given.
Runner up: Bayley
Male Wrestler of the Year: Finn Balor
Most fans love him, and some still find him bland without the demon gimmick. Regardless, he’s done great with what they’ve given him. Every match that he’s been involved with has been excellent, and he’s managed to keep the crowd behind him for every single one. He does play the underdog quite a bit, but he pulls it off better than most in NXT.
Runner up: Kevin Owens
Feud of the Year: Sasha Banks vs Bayley
This feud accomplished everything in a pro wrestling feud. The goal was simple for both, as they wanted to be the best in the division. Along with this, there was a babyface the crowd could get behind, with a heel they can hate. Of course their matches helped quite a bit, because they were some of the most competitive matches we saw in all of WWE this year.
Runner up: Kevin Owens vs Sami Zayn
Match of the Year: Sasha Banks vs Bayley (Iron Women Match)
This mach speaks for itself. For anybody who hasn’t seen it yet, I highly recommend you watch it.
Runner up: Sasha Banks vs Bayley (Takeover Brooklyn) & Finn Balor vs Kevin Owens (Beast in the East)
I highly appreciate anybody that has taken the time to go my 2015 awards. Stay tuned for my WWE Awards, which will come out next Tuesday.
