NXT Takeover : Brooklyn Predictions

In light of this busy week for the WWE, I plan on laying out my Takeover predictions instead of posting a Wednesday Wrap Around article. Going into this special I’m feeling confident about all of my picks, but at the same time I don’t think this is a predictable show. In fact, there could be a case for each wrestler winning or losing on Saturday night.

The Vaudevillians vs Blake & Murphy

The last time we saw this match, it was a complete disaster. With the Vaudevillians and Alexa Bliss being the only real attractions for this match, they’ll have their work cut out for them. Considering the stage they’re performing on, I don’t see this contest being as ugly as their last. Blake & Murphy are just too boring, and I don’t believe they’ve resonated with any NXT fans. With that being said, I predict the Vaudevillians to capture the tag team gold. The early 1900s duo are a veteran team and they deserve a big win on the big show.

Baron Corbin vs Samoa Joe

Baron Corbin has been booked as an unstoppable monster, and he has yet to lose a big match. While the fans may not care for his wrestling ability or character, in a kayfabe sense he’s one of the biggest threats in NXT. Samoa Joe in his short time has also been booked in a similar fashion. Since Joe needs something to work with, I predict he picks up the clean win against Corbin. With Corbin playing a heel, he’ll need the loss to add more dimensions to his character. Also a loss to Joe would just flatten any momentum he’s had.

Tyler Breeze vs Jushin Thunder Liger

The fact that Tyler Breeze is Liger’s first opponent in a WWE ring means the company has a ton of faith in him. I don’t doubt this match could steal the show, although they have tons of competition. Someone of Liger’s status doesn’t need to worry about wins or losses, and I would imagine his main concern is putting on a stellar match. Since this is a one off match for Liger, I expect Breeze to emerge victorious, cleanly. If Jushin had more scheduled dates, I’d pick him to win.

Sasha Banks vs Bayley

Sasha is now a main roster wrestler, and her character’s purpose should be to capture the Divas Championship. Bayley will remain in NXT for the foreseeable future, and she’ll need to lead the newer core of women. I think this match is pretty easy to predict, and my pick is Bayley. I’m fully expecting this match to be on par with the main event, if not better.

Finn Balor vs Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens has shown up to the next set of NXT tapings with the NXT belt, but I’m not convinced he wins the title on Saturday. It would ridiculous for the WWE to spoil NXT’s largest main event ever. I didn’t read into the context of Owens carrying the belt, but I predict Balor still pulls off the win after a grueling match. Since stealing titles has been the theme of the year for the WWE, expect it to trickle down to NXT with Owens stealing the belt afterwards.

Like I said, I’m extremely confident in my predictions, but they could easily go the other way if booked properly. If done right, I think this could easily be better than Summerslam, but only if everybody shows up to steal the show. If you have any predictions, feel free to post them in the comment section.

I’m aware that there are 5 other matches, but I wanted to discuss the ones that had importance to them. I’ll be updating this page before Saturday for those particular matches.
